CSIT155 Week 9

I have no problem using personal experiences and thoughts on my blog. I think I could share some personal experiences from my time spent in the Marine Corps. I could also offer some thoughts and feelings about going to college twenty plus years out of high school. I could also elaborate on why I would start a business that focuses on serving active duty military. It makes sense to get personal and show your personality on a blog post about a company you own. It helps your company stand out from large chain businesses. Large companies would have a harder time getting personal on a blog, the person doing the blogging would have to follow guidelines and "mission statements" set up by that large company. The large company would hire a marketing representative to blog about the companies product or service.

  1. I think since you want to target active duty military, it definitely makes sense for you to include personal information in your blog. I also think while even though your business is pizza, that many military members will appreciate hearing about your transition from mililtary life to civilaina life.

  2. I think you make a great point differentiating a blog for a business when you are the business owner and a small company, compared with a major company. It's true, you've got more say because you're the owner, not just someone doing a job. Your business reflects you, where a blog for a large corporation has to reflect the company, not necessarily just the writer.
Certainly your experience in the Marines would help other service personnel.

  3. The opportunity to be personal can definitely be an advantage for personal and small business bloggers. Large corporations generally seem to come across as impersonal in their social media and blog communications. This may be due to their strict marketing policies or even legal challenges which heavily regulate what is posted on their blogs and how it is said. Being transparent can really help a blogger stand out and position themselves in a highly competitive social media landscape.

  4. You are correct in your following quote about the importance of business owners getting personnel at certain times and that way they don't end up looking like Wal-Mart:
"It makes sense to get personal and show your personality on a blog post about a company you own".
I own a few different company's and for one of the company's it does not make sense for me to get personnel; and for one of my company's named American Veteran Productions it makes perfect sense for me to get personnel on my blogs.

  5. Your post about the difference about large corporations and small companies is right because on one side, you have the small business that can personalize their blog post, which is the result of following both blogger’s rules and their own, but on the other side, the large corporations that have their own blog, but can’t be personal due to the fact that they need to follow more regulations, discussions about change the blog or not and time. Either way, being small isn’t bad because it isn’t much work as being big and would only discuss between the blogger and the other admins.
