CSIT 155 Week 15: Wrapping Things Up and Looking Ahead

I've learned that using social media as a marketing tool is essential to build good relationships with current customers and future customers. If you own a business or are a marketing person it is important to get to know as much as you can about the social media platforms most commonly used. It is also important to use more than the top three platforms. It is important to pay attention to less known or emerging social media platforms. If I actually owned a business I would probably use the top ten platforms.

I've also learned that if you complain about a product or service from a certain company on social media you will get the attention of that company. It's important as a business owner or marketing person to acknowledge their complaints, find a solution to the problem, and build a good relationship with your customers.

My overall experience in this class was very positive.

CSIT 155 Week 14: Online Social Strategy

As a small local business owner I would use FaceBook, Twitter, Google AdWords and FaceBook Ads. I would spend about six hours a month creating a plan for the month like the month of June using Google Calendar. I would plan out the month with what and when to post on FaceBook and Twitter. I would also incorporate holidays and sporting events. Like Flag Day, Father's Day, NBA finals and UFC 161. I would control the access to the calendar and the social media websites. All my employees would have a print out of the calendar and read only access to the calendar. This would ensure that all my employees know about upcoming events and specials.
I would use this to write all my FaceBook posts for the month. My FaceBook posts would appear the evenings during the week like Friday afternoon 4:30 PM and at noon during the weekends.  I would send out a Tweet with a special discount to my Twitter followers once a week.I would send out the Tweets on Fridays at noon and 5PM.  Depending on the growth of my company I would probably hire a part time social media intern to run my social media marketing then hire a full time social media marketing person.
I would spend about $100 a month once a month on FaceBook Ads and tailor my Ads according my "insights" data page. I would also spend about $10 a day on Google AdWords using "Pizza Oceanside", "Pizza Camp Pendleton" and " Pizza Party". I would spend $10 on each AdWord phrase for the month of June. I will adjust my AdWord spending after reviewing the Google Analytics data. If "Pizza Oceanside" or "Pizza Camp Pendleton" search phrases get consistent hits I will remove "Pizza Party" and put the money toward the more popular search phrases.

This is a screenshot of my Google Calendar .

CSIT 155 Week 14 : Online Social Strategy

I learned how to set up a blog, which is relatively easy after you use it a few times. Using social media to communicate with a business as a customer may be a better way to solve a problem. Business build relationships with customers by interacting through social media. The aesthetics, design, and branding of a business' website should adhere to a standard format which is easy to use and visually appealing.

I learned a business FaceBook page and integrate it with the business Twitter account and applications like Pinterest. I defined my target market and tailored my page to the interests of my target market. I learned about the analytic tool "insights" built into FaceBook. I learned how to schedule future posts to advertise my business.

Using visually appealing social media applications like Instagram,Tumblr, Pinterest, and YouTube  offer a platform to feature pictures and video of your products and services.

l learned that my Twitter page for my business can be integrated with my FaceBook page. If I post on my FaceBook page it will appear on my Twitter feed. Very useful provided you have the followers. It is a good way to distribute coupons and specials to loyal customers who follow.

I learned about web services like Constant Contact to create and distribute a newsletter for customers. I think this service would be more useful for medium to large companies.

I learned how to create advertisements both free and pay on FaceBook. An example of the Ad features I created a mini survey and shared a funny video of another company's YouTube video on my business page.

I learned more about other social media tools like Google+, Google Maps, Yelp, and Groupon. Using these service along with FaceBook help my customers find my business, read reviews and find discounts.

I learned about all the features Google Analytics offers and how a business owner can tailor their advertising and marketing to reach more customers.

FaceBook insights are useful provided your page has at least 30 "likes." Helps business owner find their true demographic and focus on that group.

I think FaceBook and Twitter integrate the best. I think FaceBook, Google Maps, and Twitter are best suited for my business.

I have enjoyed using FaceBook the most.

The best platforms for daily use are FaceBook and Twitter.

I would use Pinterest and Instagram less frequently.

CSIT 155 Week 13 SEO and Social Media

The Google Analytics features I would use for my business to check regularly and why are:

Mobile Analytics : I would use this feature to target new customers through mobile devices. I can target app traffic of new potential customers. I tailor what apps to advertise on or develop an app that the target audience would use.

Advertising Analytics : This feature uses SEM (search engine marketing) and Adwords to drive customers locally to my business. Like for example searching "pizza Oceanside" on a mobile device or desktop.

Social Analytics: I would use the Social Plugins to build a community and increase interest in sharing information about my business. Like building a customer base through "word of mouth."

CSIT 155 Wk 12 Pt 1 - Using Other Social Media Tools

The four additional online marketing tools I believe could be important to the growth of my business would be Google+, Google Maps, Yelp, and Groupon.

I could integrate them into my current strategy by helping new customers find my business, read reviews and find deals for those new customers.
